In retrospect there are an estimated 6, 659, 679, 758 people in the world meaning over 1/6 of the entire world currently has internet access. Breaking these numbers down by continents the below information summarizes the number of internet users that currently reside in each continent. Also included are the percentage of people who use the internet based on their population and what percentage each continent possesses of total world internet use… World Internet Usage and Population Statistics Africa – 44,361,940 users – 3.4% of world usage - 4.7% of people use internet Asia – 510, 478, 743 users – 38.7% of world usage - 13.7% of people use internet Europe – 348,125,847 users – 26.4% of world usage - 43.4% of people use internet Middle East – 33,510,500 users – 2.5% of world usage - 17.4% of people use internet North America – 238,015,529 users – 18.0% of world usage - 71.1% of people use internet Latin America – 126,203,714 users – 9.6% of world usage – 22.2% of people use the internet Australia - 1,319,872,109 users – 1.5% of the world usage – 57.1% of the people use the internet It is interesting to note that although Asia has by far the greatest number of internet users North America has the greatest ratio of internet users based on their population. It is also interesting the as country as large as Australia only accounts for 1.5 of total internet use.
